Palermo's biography
|
Tony Palermo's Biography:
Tony's been at UUCNH and doing discussion groups since 1990. The
mainstay has been the Jesus
Discussion group, running a curriculum of about 2 years [1-2 hours
per session, one Sunday a month after the service], and intended as a
study group on Biblical Criticism and the Historical Jesus. The
material has been repeated 5 times over the years.
In addition, Tony has led the PSI
[Philosophical, Spiritual Insights] Group since 1995, covering a
myriad of subjects ranging from Evolution [social, moral &
biological], Psychology & the Nature of Evil, Spiritual Growth, and
comparative religions [Buddhism, Islam, Pagan], to Physics,
Astronomy, Chemistry and Psychology.
Tony has also done a number of other jobs at UUCNH over the
years, including teaching RE since 1995 [his special love] and 4 years
as chair of the Sunday Services Committee during the early 1990’s which
included almost a dozen services of his own.
By training, Tony is a research chemist for PPG Industries [since
1969] and an avid seeker, having read well over 200 books on the
various topics touched on above. [Bibliography available.]
He's also a distance swimmer, a racquetball player of 41 years, a face
painter [canvases usually 10 years & under], and a Dinosaur
enthusiast.
Tony's been happily married to Pat for 37 years. They have
2 "children," Dave [born 1971] and Lynne [1974] and one grandchild,
Aiden [Nov. 9th, 2005, thanks to Lynne & Bob!]. In May of 2007,
Dave is getting married to Wendy...at UUCNH!
