Our Shared Vision:

Almost half of the church members met in "Sharing Our Vision" sessions sponsored by the ad-hoc Membership Development Team.  Based on what participants shared during the workshops held in February and March of 2005, the following shared vision emerged.

As we look to the future, we see our church being a*

  • Loving, compassionate, caring, and accepting community welcoming to all seekers;
  • Center for liberal religion and free thought that values intellectual stimulation;
  • Hub for social action and community service offering opportunities to promote and live our shared UU values in the larger community;
  • Haven that inspires and nurtures spiritual and personal growth, introspection, and the open-minded search for truth and meaning; and
  • Seat for affirming, promoting, and living Unitarian Universalism and our seven UU Principles.
As we look to the future, we see our church growing in size.
  • Within the next five years (by June, 2010), to include*
o 250-300 adult members with an average Sunday adult attendance of 125-150 and
o An enrollment of 125-150 children and youth with 75-100 attending the RE program weekly
  • Within the next ten years (by June, 2015), to include*
o Well over 300 adult members and
o 150-200 children and youth

As we look to the future, we want to grow because we*
  • Feel a moral responsibility to share Unitarian Universalism as widely as we can,
  • Want to spread the good news of a faith that can help to save the world,
  • Desire to serve more people and have greater community impact, and
  • Believe that growing in size will strengthen, empower and enrich our church.
As we look to the future, we want to ensure that we keep our*
  • Identity as a warm, friendly, caring, and loving community;
  • Ability to foster connection, friendships, and spiritual growth;
  • Focus on promoting and living our 7 UU Principles;
  • Diversity of beliefs and program offerings;
  • Favorite programs and staff; and
  • Knack for minimizing bureaucratic barriers to involvement and participation.
